MembershipWe are open to all members of the Canada Life Canadian Staff Trusteed Pension Plan, or any of the prior plans which existed before the consolidation in the mid 1990’s, including the Managers and Agents Plan. By member, we mean anyone entitled to current or future benefits under the plan. This includes
If you would like to become a
member of the Canada Life Canadian Pension
Plan Members’ Rights Group, we ask that you first review the Group’s
Constitution. If you agree with our
objectives and organization, send a short note with your name and e-mail address
to clpens@rogers.com. There is no fee for
non-voting membership.
Current fees for voting membership are a one-time initiation fee of $100, which will go into a professional-fees fund, plus an annual fee of $25 which will go towards ongoing expenses incurred in running the group. Any excess from the ongoing expense fund will be used to augment the professional-fee fund.
Paper copies of newsletters and other correspondence are sent to voting members who do not have access to e-mail.
If you do not choose to become a voting member, but would like to receive our newsletters by regular mail, we will provide this service for $25 per year. Send your name and address, and a cheque made out to CLPENS Group to
CLPENS GROUP Membership in this group will in no way put your pension at risk. Pensions are paid from a trust fund outside the direct control of the company sponsoring the plan, which is now the Great West Life Insurance Company, owned by Power Corporation. The plan is registered under the Pension Benefits Act of Ontario and is regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
